My Vote Matters is excited to announce our new 2019 Federal election campaign. This federal election, My Vote Matters has decided to expand our work in political advocacy and mobilisation to all of Australia.
My Vote Matters was first established in 2018 with the Victorian State election. Our first campaign was intended to fill a long empty space in the Australia Muslim community; that being the lack of an organised political advocacy body. My Vote Matters filled that space by working, as an initiative of the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV), to teach Muslims about the importance of voting, encouraging Muslims to enrol to vote, and most importantly, publishing unbiased and impartial research comparing the different policies of Australian politicians.
This Federal election the ICV has partnered with the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) to extend our work to all of Australia and encourage greater political engagement amongst Australian Muslims.
In the coming weeks, we will be publishing our research on the policies of Australian politicians, as well as campaigning on the ground to educate Muslims on the importance of voting in Islam.
